If you haven’t checked out the Library of Virginia’s website lately, you should! Featured on the site is Forsaken, the story of a young black servant, Virginia Christian, convicted of killing her white employer in 1912. Christian was the first female juvenile executed in Virginia by the electric chair. Intense, right?

Virginia Genealogical Society’s Spring Conference is being held April 29-30, 2016 at the Library of Virginia. This year’s theme is Library of Virginia: Records and Research Stategies. Included is a tour of the library, which is sure to be pretty darn awesome. I had the good fortune of attending last year’s conference and enjoyed myself.

Restructuring the American Family, a free program being held at the Library of Virginia, will be on October 14, 2015. The library’s archivist will share stories found in their collection and discuss resources available by the library for others to use.
